A recent police video, captured by a patrol car's dash camera, has been all over the internet. The video is of two North Charleston, SC brothers who were pulled over by police for a broken headlight. After police searched their vehicle and found plastic bags with white powder in them, the men were placed in the back of the patrol car so police can further search the vehicle.
The video shows 22-year-old DeAngelo Mitchell and his younger brother, 19-year-old Wayne Joshua Mitchell. DeAngelo Mitchell has prior convictions that include drug possession from 2006, 2007 and 2008. He was also convicted this past August for distribution of cocaine base. Afraid that he would go to prison and not get out if police discovered that he had cocaine hidden on him, he convinced his younger brother to get rid of it for him.
The video shows him hand off the drugs he had hidden in his buttocks to his brother who ate them. Minutes later, you can see younger brother Wayne having difficulty holding his head up and DeAngelo start to yell for help. You can also hear Wayne tell his brother he loved him. Wayne later died at the hospital. You can watch the video right here without leaving.
After the incident, DeAngelo Mitchell was facing drug charges. He posted a $25,000 bail on December 1st. Toxicology reports came back and revealed that Wayne had died from cocaine overdose. DeAngelo was reprimanded on Tuesday and also charged with involuntary manslaughter.
This is heart-wrenching and crazy. I couldn't imagine asking anyone to put themselves out there like that for me, as I know that I probably wouldn't go to that extreme for anyone else. What I want to know readers is, how far would you go to protect someone close to you? Would you go so far as to risk your life?
