30 Days of Truth, Day 2: Something You Love About Yourself

It used to be a real character flaw of mine of finding things that I love about myself.  However, today, it is hard to narrow it down.  Therefore, I will change the name of this post to Somethings I Love About Myself!

Aside from being a strong person, a survivor, I am resilient.  I am able to bounce back from obstacles and learn from my mistakes.  I am overly organized and very resourceful when it comes to helping others and myself out of situations.  I love that I have the ability to research situations and try to find a way out of them.  I am somewhat of a nerd.

Besides my keen research abilities and organizational skills, I am a great friend.  I always tell my friends and family that you can be a friend to others when they are not necessarily a friend to you.  This definitely applies to me.

Whether a friend is in a ditch, in jail, or have relationship issues, I am definitely...DEAR DEE!  No matter how angry my family and friends make me, I am always DEPENDABLE DEE.  Believe it our not, I love this about myself.  I makes me feel good to be counted on and to help people that I care about.

When I was in elementary school, I have this bully that picked on me relentlessly.  At one point, it even got physical.  I think her name was Darlene.  Well, as time passed, one day she called me at home.  Till this day, I have no idea how she even got my number.  She needed help.  She was being sexually abused at home by her step-father.  Well, my mother was working as a DCFS worker at the time, picked her up and she stayed with us for a while.  My worst enemy and daily torturer was living under the same roof as me and my family was helping her!

I asked her why she made my life a living hell.  She said that the truth was her life was hell and I was such a good person.  After my family helped her and even found a good home, we became friends.  Though we lost touched since then, it made me a stronger person.

You can be friends with someone and touch someones life and they will not and does not necessarily have to do the same.  Yet, that is ok.  The satisfaction is helping others, without feeling used, is a good thing.  WHICH IS WHY, I LOVE BEING ME!
