"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Many American's are looking forward to saying that very vow of office on January 20, 2009. After all, 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Many American's would love to attend "A New Birth of Freedom" inauguration event. Therefore, scalpers, ticket brokers, e-bay qet-rich-quick schemers, and craigslist have resorted to cashing in on the "american dream". This violates the purpose and spirit of the event and will only disappoint people when they realize the ticket is fake.

This has created buzz in Congress. Thus resulting in Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to work on a bill that would make it illegal to sell tickets to President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony. Feinstein and other senators are also asking eBay, Craigslist, and other sites not to sell any scalped inauguration tickets. If the bill is passed, those caught will have a misdeameanor on their record, may serve some jail time, and will pay a fine.

I know that this Presidential inauguration is an event that's about as close to a royal coronation as American government gets. US President Barack Obama's inauguration will be a day filled with ceremony, guards, salutes, parades, music, speeches, a celebration that is full of symbolism: of new beginnings, rites of passage, and of course, change. This is an event that many Americans never thought that they would live to see.

A limited number of tickets are available free of charge. Yes, I said, free of charge only through Congressional Representatives and Senators of the 111th Congress. You can request a ticket by going to There are only 250,000 tickets. These tickets are limited and are in high demand. These tickets will be distributed the week prior to the inauguration, therefore, the likelihood to getting an actual ticket from a scalped is highly unlikely.

Please do not get cheated and find other ways to celebrate this victory!!!

1. Create a positive political scrapbook of good speeches.

2. Host an inauguration party.

3. Watch the inauguration on tv!!!

If you know of more sites that are trying to scalp tickets that have not already been listed, please post by sending me a comment so that my readers may know. Thank you.
