Barack Obama: "I am my brother's keeper"

Yesterday, at the last minute, I had went to make sure that my voter registration address was changed. I am new to blogging and I kept thinking, what to blog about? I think I have become more interested in voting because of the state of the economy that is shown on the news, in the newspapers, and most importantly, in my pocketbook changed overnight.

I had also seen the movie called "Pay It Forward" that had 3 fundamental beliefs, 1) help 3 people, 2) ask them to help 3 people, and 3) make the world a better place. Then, I read an article (click the title of my blog to see it) regarding a statement that Barack Obama had made stating that "It's that fundamental belief — I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper — that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family."

For most middle and low-income families, our dreams are to be debt free. We are scared to spend money and put money into banks. I want to encourage everyone who is reading this to ask yourself these questions: If you have been blessed with knowledge, have you shared this with someone today? Have you helped someone pursue their dreams, if it was within your means?

I say all of this to say that yes, times are very hard. However, we must encourage one another and try to stay positive. The economy did not turn bad overnight. This bad overturn has occurred for quite sometime. If you have information regarding upcoming jobs in your particular area, share the information? If you have information regarding real estate share it? Help someone today to pursue there dreams whether it is getting a job, creating a resume, or starting an online business. We are each other's keepers and we should start behaving as such.
